Intelligent Traffic Management at the Smart Country Convention 2023
LSBG Presents Innovative Solutions
We spent three exciting days in Berlin in autumn 2023 at the Smart Country Convention (SCCON), Germany's largest trade fair for the digitization of the public sector. Once a year, companies as well as municipal and private actors meet here to jointly shape and advance the digital future of their regions.
Together with our colleagues from DigiLAB (XR), we represented the LSBG at our own exhibition stand, made valuable contacts and presented three of our ITS projects: Traffic Light Forecast, EDDY and ITS-CUBE. Our motto was: "Faster, safer and more comfortable through the city with intelligent traffic control." Additional information and videos were available for visitors to discover via QR codes that visitors could scan with their smartphones.
The ITS-CUBE project, which is presented by Olaf Koch, team leader for public transport and emergency vehicle prioritization in Department XI, met with great interest. Olaf Koch answered numerous questions and used every free minute to visit other exhibitors and events. His conclusion: "It was an exciting trade fair with many interesting political statements. I made numerous new contacts, including with Bundesdruckerei (Federal Press). Although the name might not suggest it, Bundesdruckerei has excellent know-how in the field of IT security. We are currently examining whether we can work together on the topic of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) in the future in order to promote the networking of road users. The aim is to increase road safety and at the same time reduce environmental pollution."
The trade fair was under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Home Affairs (BMI). Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser opened the event with a call for more ease, willingness to experiment and curiosity in dealing with digitalization - an approach that the LSBG fully supports.
We look back on an inspiring trade fair and look forward to further expanding the contacts we have made and driving our projects forward.
