The ITS-CUBE project promotes a modern prioritization system for local public transport and emergency vehicles at traffic lights in Hamburg and the surrounding region. Together with our project partners, we are developing a concept that ensures a smooth migration for buses and traffic lights when the necessary system transition takes place in the coming years. This way, we are preparing the region for a future-proof and efficient traffic management system.
Project Overview
Project goals
The dynamic and demand-driven prioritization of local public transport at traffic lights through networking via short- and long-range communication, along with new, more flexible traffic control logics, contributes significantly to reducing travel times, minimizing braking, and optimizing traffic flow. This increases passenger comfort while simultaneously enhancing the attractiveness of public transport.
Target groups
all road users, especially the users of local public transport in Hamburg and the surrounding municipalities and districts
other cities, districts, organizations, and committees interested in bus prioritization and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
